At least one Minnesota team was able to handle their business on Saturday night. While Gophers Football and the Wild came up short, the Timberwolves cruised over Dallas. That win makes it four in a row for MN. Tom Thibodeau’s team will try to make it five tonight vs. Charlotte. These boys are about to go get that one for the thumb. Tom Brady shit.
Timberwolves 112, Mavericks 99
The game wasn’t as close as the final score would indicate. The Pups pushed the lead to just south of thirty points in the second half. Dallas made the token NBA run. We put our big ass kitty of a Center back in and it was a wrap.
- Karl Anthony Towns bounced back in a big way. After being held to two points vs. the Pelicans, KAT posted thirty-one (11-18 FG) on Rick Carlisle’s team. The former Kentucky Wildcat was looking extra sexy out there last night. It must have been the white tights or something.
- Jimmy Butler had a forgettable evening (7 Pts. 1-7 FG). No problem though. In similar fashion to the New Orleans game, one of the Big Three struggled. In similar fashion to the New Orleans game, we won the game. When all three of them are on, this team will be near impossible to beat (besides GS. They’re an outlier).
- Tyus Jones might be the most confident member of this team. It at least appears that way. The way he stepped into and drilled those two first half threes was euphoric. The MN Native knew those shots were dropping. We all kind of seem to have a bias for Tyus. Fans love seeing him succeed out there.
- Belly, Belly, Belly. You crazy Serbian Fuck. Let’s go. After hitting a second quarter three (second of the game), Nemanja Bjelica moved to 15-24 from beyond the arch on the season. Who shoots 60+ percent from beyond the arch? That’s like my Pop-A-Shot FG percentage. He won’t be able sustain the sixty for much longer. However, if he can be in the mid forties throughout the year, Belly will continue to be a huge scoring asset off of the bench.
Let’s call a spade a shovel. The Dallas Mavericks suck. They remind me a lot of the pre Wiggins/Towns era Timberwolves. They’re at the bottom of the NBA barrel, with little or no talented youth to build around. The Mav’s rookie PG, Dennis Smith Jr., has shown flashes, but no one really expects him to carry a franchise. It’s tough to put a city on your back when your brain isn’t fully functioning. Google his NSFW Tweet and you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about. There are woman and children around, so I skipped putting it directly in this blog. Not on the Lord’s Day. Upon become professional, just pay someone to hit delete on your behalf. Don’t be like Dennis the Menace.
How many more times will Dirk Nowitzki come to MN? He agreed to a two-year deal last summer. Even with him on the books for next year, a return isn’t guaranteed. As a huge fan of Dirk, I hope he comes back for 2018-2019. People like to compare hi and the Knicks Kristaps Porzingis. Porzingis is longer and more athletic than Nowitzki. With that being said, the Latvian Superstar will need to be a first ballot HOF to match what the German Moses has accomplished over the past 19 NBA seasons.
Big Three: Wiggins (23 Pts, 3 Reb), Butler (4 Pts, 7 Ast) , Towns (31 Pts, 12 Reb)
Next Game: Today vs. Charlotte (7PM CST)
