Whenever the Minnesota United secure a win, I usually find out on various social media and it’s always videos of fans singing ‘Wonderwall’ by Oasis. I can’t get enough of it.
That three points tune…

The 1995 song from Oasis is known now as the winning tune that is played and sung amonst the thousands that travel to TCF Bank Stadium (and soon enough Allianz Field) after victories. Now admittedly, I have never been to a game. I don’t live close enough to casually find a ticket to make a trip and I’ve never been a huge soccer guy outside of playing in a league one summer when I was 9 or so (we ended up winning the league no big deal).
But seeing these videos come out after wins makes a guy really wish he was there singing along.
I got curious as to why ‘Wonderwall’ is the song of choice, and it turns out the song has been a victory call since before this team was even a thing. The tradition can be traced back to 2011 and the NSC Minnesota Stars, which from I can gather is the fabric of which the Minnesota United is woven or some shit? But this assistant coach started singing this song on the bus one time and some of the players started singing along. The song became a rallying cry for the team and it’s taken off ever since.
