Jon Jones pulled from UFC 200

“Jon Jones, get your sh*t together, I’m waitin’ for you!” That was his only message.  After defeating Anthony Johnson via submission at UFC 187 last May, winning the light heavyweight title vacated by Jon Jones in the process, Daniel Cormier had nothing else to say. It appears that Cormier may have to wait a little longer. Cormier and Jones were set to fight in a rematch this Saturday, in the main event of UFC 200, but late Wednesday night it was announced that Jones had been pulled from the event after…

UFC Fight Week Preview, Part 1

UFC 204

International Fight Week Preview Part 1                 For the second time in 8 months, the UFC is holding three events in three nights this weekend in Las Vegas, culminating with UFC 200 at the new T-Mobile Arena. The weekend includes 5 titles fights (four undisputed titles and one interim title), as well as the return of former UFC champion Brock Lesnar, the UFC debut of former Bellator champion Will Brooks, and shockingly, no Ronda Rousey or Conor McGregor. McGregor was expected to headline UFC 200, but in a well-publicized spat…

Mayweather is retired (a word that doesn’t mean much in combat sports, I know), and McGregor is still under contract with the UFC, who would undoubtedly use their veto power to prevent the fight from happening. But as long as we’re throwing…

UFC 197 Recap- Jones, Johnson both dominate.

UFC 197 is in the books, and  the two best pound-for-pound fighters in the sport (in this writer’s opinion) continued their runs of dominance. With a unanimous decision victory over Ovince St. Preux, former UFC Light Heavyweight champion Jon Jones’ (22-1, 16-1 UFC) made a triumphant return to the Octagon on Saturday night. Jones defeated St. Preux (19-8, 7-3 UFC) 50-45 on all three judges’ scorecards, capturing the interim UFC Light Heavyweight belt in the process. Jones showcased his trademark variety of kicks and elbows, took St. Preux down multiple…
