Let’s talk Twins: Spring Training Is Here

We got about a foot of snow like in the last 12 hours, it seems, yet spring is in the air. Spring camp has started in Florida, and the Twins have acquired some of the pitching help we’ve been asking for the last few years in relievers Fernando Rodney and Addison Reed, as well as starters Michael Pineda, Anibal Sanchez and Jake Odorizzi. I realize two of those three starters likely won’t factor in this season (if Sanchez does at all), but it’s still good to see some transactions happening…

Do Your Job

What does Merriam-Webster say desperate means? “Utter loss of hope” What does success mean? It means that you don’t put up with shit. I’m new to this, but I spent the last few days in New England. You know, Connecticut, Boston, quaint, folksy, covered bridges, and the rest? You know what they’re good at? Winning. They win a lot. This is not to say that they have never lost, let us not forget, the Patriots were once so desperate that they hired a coach that had been fired by the…

Byron Buxton: Fielding Phenomenon

What. A. Season. The Twins lost to the Pinstripes. I don’t care. I wrote the Twins off this year. I thought Mauer was over the hill. I thought the rotation would be the worst in the league. I thought the bullpen would be the worst in the league. I thought Miguel Sano and, maybe, Max Kepler would produce decently on offense. Boy was I wrong. Sure, the pitching was by no means top-of-the-line, but those boys kept the Twinkies in ball games. Ervin Santana was the ace I said time…
