As the Twins are making a push to get into the MLB playoffs, it crossed my mind that all major sports have a decent shot at making the playoffs within the next 12 months.
There’s a decent chance that at this time next season, we could’ve witnessed all 4 major sports in the Twin Cities make the playoffs in their leagues. The Twins as of today have a 39.8% chance of making the postseason (you can check out their updated chances right here at Baseball Prospectus). Oddshark has the Vikings total win number at 8.5 this season, which means they are going to be around playoff contention hopefully. The Wild and Timberwolves are both expected to make the postseason in the 2017-18 season.
So when was the last time that happened? To the best of my knowledge and research, never. The closest that it’s happened is in 2003. The Twins, Wild and Timberwolves all made the playoffs. The Vikings were a play away from making the playoffs that season, until this happened…
That game was so fucking stupid. Rumor is that Nathan Poole is still getting cheese sent as gifts from Packer fans because that’s the best thing they can do to fill time in the cess pool they call Green Bay. (Nah I’m not bitter at all…)
It’s kind of crazy to think that all of our teams are on the upswing for the most part. I mean we have no clue what’s going to happen with the Vikings this season. That offensive line could really be an issue, but it can’t be as bad as last season, right? The Wild are coming off the best regular season in team history. The Timberwolves should make the playoffs for the first time since 2004 after the addition of Jimmy Buckets.
So hopefully one or two of our teams can make a run here within the next year, this state could use it.
