Fifteenth, huh? Does this mean the Sweet Sixteen is a lock? I’m pretty sure that’s how this works. Go ahead and circle March 22nd/23rd 2018 on your calendar. If the Associated Press or Coaches Poll know what the hell they’re talking about, that’s when Gophers Men’s Basketball will end their season. You can’t be fifteenth and reach the Elite Eight. It’s simple math.

With only Duke ranked ahead of them, Michigan State is coming in hot. Izzo’s squad returns the 6’7” Miles Bridges. Bridges surprised many last spring when he decided to forego the NBA Draft and return to school. The Spartan guard would have been a lottery selection but instead is a canidate for player of the year. Sparty is the only Big Ten team ranked ahead of MN. Yes, you read that last one correctly. Basketball wise, it’s a new damn day around these parts. Let’s go baby. This must be how a caterpillar feels when it completes metamorphosis.
This is Minnesota’s highest preseason ranking since 1993 (the Voshon Lenard lead team). The Gophers return four starters from last years 24-10 roster. Isaiah “Jelly” Washington highlights an exciting freshman class. Coach Pitino is making Lebron moves and going ‘Zero Dark Pitino’ on everyone. It’s Richards fifth year and like a Super Senior, it’s time to get the job done. A top three finish in the Big Ten and a Sweet Sixteen appearance would be the proverbial graduation day.
And because we are Minnesota, we must ask. Where you at Wisco? I’m sorry, Badger Nation. After scouring both polls, I can’t seem to find you rats. In all honesty, we’re bitter as hell over here. Bitter to the point where the Rodgers/Packers situation isn’t nearly enough. Minnesota is parlaying that scenario with busting Bucky on the basketball court.
