Petter’s Playoff Preview: Sending the Saints Marching Home

Happy 2018 y’all. It’s been months since my last post. Hopefully one or two of you remember me. I couldn’t pass up the chance to write a blog previewing the first Vikings playoff matchup this year — the year they’re facing the highest expectations since before I was born. So here goes. We all remember Week 1: Vikings throttle the Saints 29-19, and people write New Orleans off as a sub-par squad that’ll probably miss the playoffs. We’ve also all seen this week’s headlines: the Saints are not the same…

Twins ink Michael Pineda to a 2-Year Deal

The Twins made their first big move of the offseason this morning by signing 28-year-old, starting pitcher, Michael Pineda to a 2-year, $10 million deal, with possible incentives that could add an additional $3 million to his contract. This is an interesting move for the Twins, as Pineda is coming off Tommy John surgery this summer, and he will most likely not be available for the Twins in 2018. This will cause some reservations among Twins fans, but it is exactly the kind of low-risk, high-reward move that could pay…

Wolves with Juan: Timberwolves 99, Spurs 107

Timberwolves

I am one for moral victories. Last night was basically a win. You know when coaches say I’m not one for moral victories, but “XYZ” happened. If their lying asses weren’t for said victories, they’d completely disregard “XYZ.” Absurd. My participation trophy receiving, millennial-self is all for them. I’ll take last night. It’s an 82 game season. Our roster played all of three preseason games together. It will take time for them to completely gel. On a night where Kawhi Leonard and Tony Parker (Dejounte Murray is about to be…

Best And Worst Nickname Jerseys

All 30 teams in Major League Baseball will wear newly designed threads for Players Weekend, coming August 25-27. The nickname jerseys are pretty creative with the colors, logos and, of course, the nicknames. You’ll have to figure out your own favorite nicknames from all the teams on your own, but here are my top five best and top five worst nickname jerseys as far as design is concerned. Nicknames. Custom gear. And the sickest jerseys you’ll ever see.#PlayersWeekend is coming: Aug. 25-27. https://t.co/yHdg1ehoigpic.twitter.com/i9BEbcfaX1 — MLB (@MLB) August 9, 2017 Worst…

Petter’s Midseason MLB Awards Predictions

Why did I waste away doing nothing during the MLB days off last week when I could’ve been contemplating who will win the three major awards in each league once this season is over? Here are my predictions, most of which come from my heart, not necessarily my head. American League MVP: Joe Mauerse Altuve Sorry, just had to throw out there my hot take that Joe Mauer is not a valuable first baseman. He’s a cancer in the heart of the lineup. First base is supposed to be that…

Game Seven: Did Joe Maddon Screw Up?

Aroldis Chapman came into last night’s game with two outs in the bottom of the seventh with runners on first and second. The score? 7-2. Chappy got out of the inning on a split-second play at first that was overturned from its original safe call. Lindor grounded one to Rizzo, and Chapman just barely beat the runner to the bag. The camera angle at first was gorgeous. I may have cried a little :-/ RT @Cut4: You won’t find a closer play in the #WorldSeries: https://t.co/LmFWo1lBfj pic.twitter.com/awvwCOlwnj — Hartz (@BrownieHartz) November…
