I get notified for every single roster move in Major League Baseball. When my phone buzzed a little bit ago, I didn’t think anything of it. Until I read it. Something along the lines of “@Twins sign Bartolo Colon to a minor league deal.”

Why not? You can’t not like this guy. He’s just too awesome. I’m not sure he belongs in the American League, though, ’cause he can flat-out hit.
Get that man a chin strap! In all seriousness, there’s really not much to lose here, and plenty to gain. Bartolo has capped out at low to mid 80s for years, but he somehow still gets guys out, and racks up more Ks than you’d expect. Sure he’s been terrible this year, but he’s a veteran and will figure it out.
Plus, he does this stuff.
And if you didn’t think I was going to include this highlight, I might as well not be a baseball blogger. This video doesn’t get old. The oldest player to hit his first homer in MLB history. The epitome of “swing hard in case you hit it.”
I was thinking Bartolo would be at AA or AAA pitching until he started doing well or a guy got injured. Maybe he’d come up for a spot start or help out in long relief if we needed. But hey, looks like Target Field will get a taste sooner than that (and so will Aaron Judge).
